WHAT DID YOU PUT IN YOUR TOOLBOX THIS WEEK?

By Julie Broadway

Our February workshop (Are You Becoming Your Own CEO?), held on Feb. 4, centered around assessing and preparing ourselves for what we believe we have been called to do as professionals. Whether that’s to get ready for the interview for a promotion…pursue a federal position…completely change career paths…or grow where you are currently planted, it is important to prepare and plan to ensure that you’re ready for any opportunities that may come your way.

If pursuing a career as a public servant is your goal, we discussed the importance of The Big Four and provided resources for each to empower you to OWN your calling and desired path.

So, if a federal career is your calling, do you …

    1. Have a Federal Résumé?
    2. Know how Your Current or Future Skills Align with Government Jobs?
    3. Know Your Hiring Authority?
    4. Understand the Federal Application and Hiring Process?

For those who attended our workshop:

    • Have you checked out the resources and learned what federal job series best fits your skillset or desired path?
    • Have you tackled the first draft of your federal résumé?

If yes to both, then CONGRATULATIONS!

Each time you do research, tweak your résumé to better highlight your amazing talents, or even watch a YouTube video to help you learn something that will enhance your marketability – you are OWNING your calling and path. No time is wasted time!

In the new book I am reading, bestselling author and pastor, Andy Stanley writes:

“Waiting time is not wasted time for anyone in whose heart God has placed a vision.”

So, whether God is preparing you or pushing you towards your calling, the little things you do every day take you one step closer to the vision and calling you have for your life.

So, get going, and GO!

The team at Federal Career Connection can’t wait to hear about the great successes you have and to help you on your journey to pursue a federal career.

Come to our office hours and talk to us about what you’ve learned or let us help you with your résumé. We are here to serve.

Wishing you the BEST week and look forward to hearing all about which of The Big Four you have decided to tackle first and what you are doing to become your own C.E.O.
