DR. JACQUELINE CHARLES MOVES FORWARD AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
SPRINGFIELD, VA, July 31, 2023 – Federal Career Connection, Inc. (FCC Inc.) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jacqueline Charles as its new Executive Director.
On Saturday, the Chair and Board of Directors officially confirmed Dr. Charles unanimously as the new Executive Director.
"With her exceptional leadership, extensive experience, and dedication to helping those who aspire to find their occupational calling in public, national, military or other federal services, Dr. Charles' appointment comes at a pivotal moment for FCC Inc.," said Alex Harrington, Chair and founder of Federal Career Connection, Inc.
As Executive Director, Dr. Charles will lead FCC Inc., by overseeing all aspects of operations, including strategic planning, program management, fundraising, community engagement, and staff/volunteer management.
About Our New Executive Director
With more than two decades of excellence to her credit in federal service specializing in Department of Defense acquisition and sustainment of various weapon systems and small business policy helping small businesses through advocacy and utilizing her experience and connections to assist them with decreasing barriers to the federal marketplace, Dr. Charles has earned distinction as the associate director of the office of small business programs with the Department of Defense. Since 2022, she has focused her efforts on workforce development, developing innovative strategies, and policy guidance for small business socioeconomic programs. She has led significant efforts in support of President Biden’s Executive Order 13985 on advancing equity in the federal government, including developing policies related to the Small Business Act and leading congressional affairs.
Dr. Charles began her career in the federal career internship program for the United States Army Communications Electronics Command (CECOM) in 2008 and was promoted to an integrated logistics support team lead in 2011. Following this time, she served as the deputy assistant program manager of logistics for the aviation logistics and maintenance program branch of the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Lakehurst, New Jersey in 2012.
In 2014 through 2015, Dr. Charles served in a similar capacity for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Patuxent River, Maryland supporting the Aircrew Chemical Biological Radiological Protective Systems Program and the Next Generation Jammer Low Band acquisition program that addressed Airborne Electronic Attack capability. She continued her career as an assistant program manager of logistics for the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Weapons Program Division in 2018 and pivoted to serve as a strategic planning team lead for the largest procurement program in the Department of Defense, F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter program in 2019. The next year, she was hand-selected by the F-35 Product Support Manager for a key leadership role as the product support manager for combat data systems at the aforementioned office. In this capacity, Dr. Charles was responsible for overseeing a $120 million operational budget and leading efforts to provide software and hardware support on behalf ofaircraft pilots. With an eye toward affordability metrics and sustainability, she has also led several cost-cutting initiatives to streamline and reduce lifecycle costs for the F-35 program.
Among her professional accomplishments, Dr. Charles was awarded several accolades in her career. Added to these, she won the William A. Brown Sr. Scholarship from the African American Federal Executive Association (AAFEA) in 2021. The same organization also awarded her the Tracy Pinson Trailblazer Award in 2022. Furthermore, Dr. Charles worked diligently to support the goals of AAFEA andhas served on their 2022 sponsorship committee to secure partnerships with such companies as Deloitte, Booz Allen Hamilton and the Royal Consulting Firm. She also led efforts to collaborate with Ambi, an African American owned business, to obtain product donations and enduring support for the cause of AAFEA.
